Debate 'This House thinks that Pokemon cards should be banned from Crosshall Junior School'

As part of our module on discussion texts we decided to hold a debate in Year Four. The classes prepared arguments for and against the motion that 'Pokemon cards should be banned from Crosshall Junior School'. Needless to say there were strong viewpoints on each side of the argument and the children articulated their views very clearly in a debate hosted by our invited Chair Mr Ainscow. We certainly have some future orators in our midst.
The motion was defeated by a small margin.

Year Four cave art day

In Year Four this week we travelled back in time to the Stone Age! The Drama Hall window blinds were drawn and large sheets of paper lined the walls. Using only torchlight, each class experimented with creating art just as our ancestors did. The children used charcoal and pastels to draw animals and hunting scenes similar to the paintings found in Lascaux in France. The children participated with great enthusiasm and we are really proud of the wall paintings that we made together. We're hoping to display them in the Year Four Central area soon.

Welcome to Year Four 2016-17

Welcome to the new school year from all of the Year Four team. We have had a fantastic week settling into new routines and getting to know each other.
Thank you so much for completing the Home Learning task, we have some fantastic Stone Age posters to talk about next week when we move into our full curriculum.
You may have seen (or heard about) our walk every morning which we call the Crosshall Mile. The idea is that we wake up our bodies and our minds by taking some exercise together at the start of the school day. The children seem to love it already.
