Thank you so much for your support with our Elves puzzle last week. We have had some very inventive solutions from the children.
We've also had some requests for a solution so here goes:-
There were four elves, four coloured outfits and three items of clothing.
So let's start with this:-
If the elves only had coloured hats then there would be four possible hats that they could wear.
Expanding this to hats and jackets then for each coloured hat there are four coloured jacket options (4 x 4 = 16).
With trousers too there are four new options for each hat and jacket combination, so 4 x 4 x 4 = 64 possible different outfits each.
Thank you for all of your support with Home Learning tasks this term and best wishes for a Happy Christmas from everyone in the Year Four Team
Welcome to the Year Four website. On this website, we will be sharing examples of our children's work. This page is a workshop containing examples of learning in action. The work will not be the children's 'final draft’.

Autumn Home Learning Information for Year Four
This coming year, the home learning expectations are as follows:
Each
week, there will be times table practice and either a written
consolidation or MyMaths task set. (30 minutes) Each week, the
children will take part in a times table test.
In
school, we have a weekly focus on a spelling rule. A list of spellings
to learn that follow the week's rule will be provided. (20 minutes) Class teachers will test each week's spelling list.
Children should read with an adult at least three times a week at home. Where possible, this could be every day. Renaissance Home Connect enables parents to see information about your child's progress within Accelerated Reader. Reading Diaries will be checked weekly by class teachers.
This home learning will be set on a Thursday and will be due in the following Tuesday. Home learning will begin on Thursday 12th September.

Rock UK #CJSRock
What an amazing three days we have just had on our residential visit to the Rock UK Frontier Centre. The children have enjoyed abseiling, climbing, canoeing and archery. Everyone responded so well to the challenges and reached their own personal goals. Year Four we are really proud of your achievements.
