A Trip to Verulamium!

Last week, the Year Four children travelled to St Albans, where the third largest Roman Settlement in Britain was located. Verulamium Museum exhibits everyday life in Roman Britain. In a workshop hosted by museum curators, the children had the opportunity to handle different artefacts that would have been found at a Roman market from food to clothing and household items. They made deductions and learned how they were used every day in town.

In the museum, the children had a go at playing an old Roman game called Three Men's Morris and making their own mosaic. All of the children had a go at sketching the artefact that impressed them the most.

Before lunch, the classes viewed a restored Hypocaust and learned how the Romans invented underfloor heating. Below are some photos from the trip.
